Q. Does the industry have potential?
Holiday lighting is an $8.5 billion dollar market growing at about 5% each year. The demand for holiday lighting services is approaching one billion dollars and will continue to expand as these services are aggressively promoted. Holiday lighting offers additional sales opportunities to seasonal companies to help increase sales in the often challenging winter quarter. This program also provides an opportunity for add-on sales and the addition of cheerleader customers to your database for repeat and referral business.
Q. What are the start-up costs for this program?
An initial investment of one of three start-up packages is required to establish your distributorship plan. Financing with monthly payments of a few hundred dollars is available. In addition, you will incur expenses for travel to initial training, marketing, storage space and sales and administration.

Q. Do I need to hire additional people to implement the holiday lighting program?
You will need team members for sales, design and presentation, product installation and removal and to perform administrative functions such as taking customer inquiries (CSR), ordering product and invoicing. A licensed electrician is not required to install holiday lighting that does not involve electrical work, so you can use apprentice electricians or helpers for this task. Your sales, design and presentation person should have good communication and presentation skills with a track record for closing high dollar jobs such as landscape, lighting, and service upgrades. In most operations, all these functions can be performed by existing team members. As your holiday lighting business grows from year to year, you might have to hire some temporary labor to install and remove lighting during the holiday season.

Q. What do the Training Seminars involve?
Brite Ideas' exclusive training seminars are held at the Brite Ideas Headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska. Held during the months of August through October, the seminars last two days and include the following sessions: Introduction & Background, Job Bidding & Estimating, Forms & Procedures, Sales, Marketing, various Installation & Removal sessions of all Brite Ideas' product categories, and a facility tour. Distributors that attend the Brite Ideas Training Seminar on average generate seven to ten times the sales revenue in their first year than Distributors that do not attend.
